Cork is a big county. Your instructor should already know your test centre.
Four test centres, the city ring road, and half of West Cork in between. The roundabout at Wilton catches people out every week. The instructor who teaches you should already know that. Ours do.
The four test centres in Cork. We know every route out of all of them.
Most learners think the test is luck on the day. Actually, it is the route, and the route is different at each centre. Skibbereen passed 73.2% of car tests in 2023. Wilton, the busiest centre in Cork, passed just 45.3% (RSA figures, against a 52.3% national average). We match you with an instructor who teaches on the roads of your centre.

Cork roads, taught by Cork instructors.
Cork is the biggest county in the country, and it drives like four different places. The city ring road and the Jack Lynch Tunnel are nothing like the back roads around Bantry. Learning on the roads you will actually be tested on is most of the secret.
Every one of our 15 Cork instructors is RSA-approved and ADI-certified, with seven years' experience on average. Four of them are women, if that is what would put you at ease. They teach manual and automatic, and they know which routes the examiners favour out of each centre.
Start with a single lesson or a package. Do your EDT, add a pretest and car hire before the day, and book the lot online. No phone tag.
The roads that catch people out
- N40The Cork South Ring and the Jack Lynch Tunnel. Lane discipline and merging at speed.
- N25Cork to Midleton and Youghal. Short slip roads onto a 100km/h dual carriageway.
- N20Cork to Mallow and Limerick. Overtaking lanes and fast rural stretches.
- N71Out through West Cork. Narrow bends, hidden junctions, tractors.

Cork drivers, made here.
"Happy days, I just passed my driving test first time around. Kevin was fantastic at instructing and pulled me up on all my bad habits from the get go. I was very nervous, but I was made feel comfortable and calm, and I got a run through with a pretest right before the test. Highly recommend."
"I have just passed my driving test first time after completing lessons with Jonathan. An excellent instructor who notices everything, is very patient and always wants to help. He gave me a lot of confidence going into my test, which really helped me feel relaxed and ready on the day. Can't recommend him enough!"
"Passed my driving test first time thanks to William! I had multiple learner permits and never had the confidence to book a test until getting lessons from William. He was always kind, gave positive feedback and was encouraging."
The things people ask us about Cork.
Where will I sit my driving test in Cork?
Most learners sit at Wilton or Ballincollig if you are near the city. North Cork sits at Mallow, and West Cork sits at Skibbereen. Tell us your town and we will match you with an instructor who teaches on that centre's routes.
Do you cover West Cork, or just the city?
We cover West Cork. Skibbereen test centre takes in Clonakilty, Dunmanway, Ballydehob and out as far as Goleen, and we have instructors living and teaching across that patch, not just driving down from Cork city.
How many lessons will I actually need?
By law you need the 12 EDT lessons to sit your test. Most learners do a few more to feel ready. Start with a package, and add a pretest and car hire before the day. You can top up whenever you want.
Manual or automatic?
Both. Tell us which you want when you book and we will line you up with the right instructor and car. Automatic is a little dearer per lesson, with no clutch and no stalling.
Your local Cork instructor is a two-minute form away.
No payment now. Pick your town, and we will route you to the right instructor for your test centre.
